- The knowledge exam is conducted on a walk in basis only at all DDS Customer Service Centers. Testing must begin at least 30 minutes before office close time
Important Information about Your Permit
- The DDS fee for your permit is $10.00. The fee must be paid before the test begins; the DDS accepts cash, money order, check, or credit/debit cards. The $10 fee is forfeited if you fail your test. If you choose to retake the test you will need to pay an addition $10 fee per attempt
- Your permit is valid for 24 months.
- You're allowed to drive only if you're with a licensed driver at least 21 years old who is seated in the front seat of the car at all times
I. You may not apply for or keep a driver's permit or license if you withdraw from school (if you are under age 18), have a total of 10 unexcused absences or have any conduct infractions.
II. If you receive a traffic citation after you receive your license, your license may be suspended. Paying the citation fee does not indicate that your license will not be suspended.
